The 65th edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) 2025 is buzzing with activity, and Chinese companies are making waves in the mining and energy sectors. This year’s theme, “Industrialisation: Crafting an Integrated Economic Landscape,” has drawn exhibitors from across Zimbabwe, the region, and the globe, with Chinese firms bringing cutting-edge technologies to the forefront.
Yantai Jinpeng Mining Machinery Company Limited is showcasing a suite of mining solution technologies. “We have a number of mining sector technologies that include crushers, magnetic concentration, automatic control, conveyors, among other things,” said Mr. Edwin Lyu-Yantai. The company has already collaborated with several mining companies in Zimbabwe and is eager to expand its clientele. “We are targeting to broaden our clientele here at ZITF 2025 so that they can procure our world-class products. We also manufacture customised specialised equipment and machinery,” Lyu-Yantai added. This push towards customisation could signal a shift in the mining sector, where one-size-fits-all solutions have often dominated.
Sino Blast Mining Explosives is focusing on safe and environmentally friendly mining practices. “Mining is one of the critical sectors here in Zimbabwe and responsible mining is critical,” said Mr. Noko Mutize, the marketing manager. The company’s emphasis on sustainability aligns with the global trend towards greener mining practices, which could influence local policies and operations.
Xiangwei Pipe, one of China’s largest pipe manufacturers, is eyeing opportunities in Zimbabwe’s irrigation and mining sectors. “We are already supplying our products here in Zimbabwe mainly for irrigation schemes and even for some mining initiatives,” said Ms. Li Wen. The company’s presence at ZITF 2025 underscores the growing importance of infrastructure development in Zimbabwe’s economic landscape.
Shandong Xinhai Mining Technology and Equipment is leveraging its global expertise to support Zimbabwe’s mining industry. “As one of the leaders of mineral processing industry in the world, we are to engage and provide more mine companies with technical support for mineral processing service,” said Mr. Abby Han. The company’s focus on customising professional mineral processing processes for each mine could drive efficiency and productivity in Zimbabwe’s mining sector.
In the energy sector, Rainbow Solar is promoting clean, renewable energy solutions. “We are witnessing manufacturing of solar panels and lithium batteries in order to avert crippling power outages while embracing clean renewable energy,” said Mr. Edward Matimba, the sales and marketing manager. The company’s Genix green solar batteries offer several advantages, including high energy density, longer lifespans, faster charging, and a lower weight compared to traditional batteries. This could accelerate Zimbabwe’s transition to renewable energy, reducing its reliance on fossil fuels.
The presence of these Chinese companies at ZITF 2025 is more than just a display of technology; it’s a testament to the growing interdependence of global markets. As Zimbabwe seeks to industrialise and integrate its economic landscape, the technologies and expertise brought by these companies could play a pivotal role. However, it also raises questions about local capacity building and the potential for technology transfer. How will Zimbabwe ensure that these advancements benefit local industries and communities in the long run? The answers to these questions will shape the future of Zimbabwe’s mining and energy sectors.
